Maria Bussmann: Allerdings. Zeichnung und Plastik 2000–2018
Introduction by Johanna Hofleitner, Passagen Verlag, Vienna
Remarks by Sven Jürgensen, press officer, City of Osnabrück
The little word “allerdings” can be used to add emphasis to a statement. Maria Bussmann has chosen it for the title of her artist’s book, marking a trace that leads into her graphic and sculptural oeuvre: the union of word and image, of ideas and their visualization, of philosophy and art. Conceptual cycles of works inspired by the writings of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Baruch de Spinoza, Hannah Arendt, and others have been the focus of her art for many years.
With contributions by Hélène Cixous (Paris), Thomas Micchelli (New York), and Verena Träger (Vienna)
ca. 212 pages, numerous color illustrations
31 x 21 cm, softbound
Born in Würzburg, Germany, Maria Bussmann studied art and philosophy and has been based in Vienna since 1989. She has been a member of the Secession since 2012.
