Chto Delat in conversation with Gerald Raunig
An event of the Friends of the Secession – in the framework of Vienna Art Week
Chto Delat (What is to be done?) is a collective that was founded in St. Petersburg in 2003 and counts artists, critics, philosophers, and writers from St. Petersburg and Moscow among its members. The collective responded to the urgent need to merge political theory, art, and activism. Its activities include art projects, educational seminars, and public campaigns; its productions range from video and theater plays to radio programs and murals. The collective also publishes the Russian-English newspaper Chto Delat?, which covers questions of culture and politics in an international context.
Gerald Raunig is a philosopher and art theoretician. He works at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste and at the eipcp (European Institute for Progressive Cultural Policies); habilitation and venia docendi at the Institute for Philosophy, University of Klagenfurt. Gerald Raunig is a member of the editorial boards of the multilingual webjournal transversal and the journal Kamion. His books have been translated into English, Serbian, Spanish, Slovenian, Russian, Italian, and Turkish.
