Christopher Williams, born in 1956 in Los Angeles, is an American conceptual artist. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he studied at the California Institute of the Arts. Since October 2008 he is Professor of Photography at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 2005 he exhibited in collaboration with de Rijke / de Rooij at the Vienna Secession. A comprehensive retrospective of his work titled The Production Line of Happiness is presently touring the Art Institute of Chicago, MoMA New York and the Whitechapel Gallery London. The lecture will take place in conjunction with his exhibition The Production Line of Happiness at Galerie Mezzanin, Getreidemarkt 14, Vienna, from April 30 – June 5, 2014.
