About the Friends of the Secession

The Secession is Austria’s only exhibition gallery independently led and managed by artists. It implements a program in which the concrete substantial work with the art takes priority. The inscription on the Secession’s home calls for the freedom of art, and despite the changing circumstances, that motto has guided the institution’s activities for almost twelve decades, placing the Secession at the intersection between tradition and innovation.

The Friends of the Secession unite people from all walks of life who are interested in contemporary art. Members of the business community and private donors, corporations and prominent personalities come together to promote the positions the Secession represents. By becoming a member, you can support the scholarly study of emerging trends in art and a program of carefully prepared presentations.

The Friends of the Secession thus foster dialogue between art, business, and society.
