CONTEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS AT THE SECESSION
The Secession is an exhibition house for contemporary art. With exhibitions of Austrian and international artists, it has been contributing to the discussion of art and its developments for over 100 years. A special art education program for school classes is offered for each new exhibition, and suggestions are available for teachers for preparing for a visit to the exhibition and subsequent reflection. During the visit to the exhibition, pupils discover the art works in detail. Relationships to other art directions and social developments are also conveyed.

HOW IS AN EXHIBITION CREATED AT THE SECESSION?
In this framework, the Secession invites pupils to become acquainted with the working methods and organization of the exhibition house. They visit the various areas of work, such as the exhibition and press office, the workshops, and the president's room. The pupils have a chance to look into rooms that are not otherwise open to the public. Discussions with staff members give this program the character of a workshop.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE SECESSION
What is the Viennese Jugendstil? Why did the Secession building trigger an aesthetic scandal among Olbrich's contemporaries? Starting with the facade with its rich symbolism, the foundations and sections of the building will be explored. Important architectonic elements on the interior will be pointed out, all the way to the roof construction of the main room. Pupils learn about the flexible exhibition architecture of the White Cube based on different room arrangements and about the Secessionists' understanding of the gesamtkunstwerk.

TOUR THROUGH THE SECESSION
This tour provides an overview of the historical development of the Artists' Association and the architecture of the Secession. The tour includes a visit to the current exhibitions in the main room, the Grafisches Kabinett and the gallery. The tour concludes with the Beethoven Frieze, where pupils learn about the idea of the gesamtkunstwerk from the example of the famous Beethoven Exhibition of 1902. Here we look at the narrative and style of Klimt's major work.
