Octavian Trauttmansdorff, born 1965 in Vienna, studies the conditions of art production
and reception as well as the mechanisms of social behavior by shifting the terms
of every movement in art and playfully incorporating a contradiction in each notion
of art. His works refer to the institution-critical, media-oriented installation
of the nineties and to contemporary socio-political situations which he integrates
in his projects in a subversive way.
His exhibition project at the Secession addresses the impact of the interplay
between nature and culture as a projection surface for social and private visions
and ideas. The controversy of settlements and nature, human assimilation of nature
and the domination of nature, etc. will be dealt with in imagery in the Graphisches
Kabinett.
