Starting with the search for up-to-date forms of realism in painting, Robert Lettner
(who was born in Eine, France, in 1943) is above all interested in the analysis
of picture production itself, alongside the presentation of social and political
issues. The attempt to conceive plein air painting as structure meets with success
in his most recent work, where his spontaneous drawings made out-of-doors were
later submitted to digital technology. Robert Lettner is presenting the result
of the amalgamation of an organic process (i.e. drawing, which is dependent on
psyche and artistic abilities) with an inorganic medium, the computer, in his
exhibition entitled "Pictures on Magical Geometry" in the Secession.
